Jennifer Freeman

Executive Director

After graduating from Georgetown University, Jennifer has spent most of her professional career in the field of microfinance (providing small loans to low income individuals who lack access to credit). Working overseas, she set up new projects and strengthened existing microfinance programs primarily in the Balkans, as well as consulted on microfinance process improvements and internal audit for development-oriented banks in Asia and Africa.

Jennifer Freeman (she/her) serves as Community FarmShare’s founder and Executive Director. Jennifer, is committed to working to building a resilient, sustainable local food system by linking land, farmers and people who lack access to healthy food. Her enthusiasm is contagious, welcoming all community members to share in this vision.

After a fifteen year international development career, Jennifer settled into Peas and Peace Farm in Poolesville, where she lives with her daughter nurturing the earth of her farm and developing deep friendships within (and beyond!) our the Agricultural Reserve.

Jennifer additionally serves as a Member of the Montgomery County Food Council, is on the Advisory Board of MAFRAC, serves as a Board member of the Sugarloaf Citizens Association and is a founding member of the Food Resilience Working Group of the Montgomery County CAP Coalition.
